How to Encode Highly Compressed Movie Data
There are some instances where compression will plateau owing to circumstances with the compression algorithm
when a low bit rate is specified and the data is output with a higher bit rate and file size than was
specified.

While it depends on the resolution and content, a general rule of thumb is that
a bit rate with a compression ratio of 2 to 3% or less will not meet the specified value.
(The compression ratio refers to the ratio of the file size compared to the uncompressed data.)

If you want to achieve higher compression and reduce the file size further, try the
following Console Version Sofdec.Prime Encoder options.

  • qmf_range: Adaptive quantization matrix range specification
  • alpha_quality: Alpha channel quality adjustment (when using alpha movie)
